IMPROVISATION TRAINING

IMPROVISATION TRAINING

If you have a team that needs to learn how to communicate more effectively, or know someone who needs help with their confidence, then a taste of improvisation might be for you.

I’m Sarah, and in one way or another I’ve always been a performer. As a kid I was singing songs at family gatherings, in my early twenties I headed to university to focus on Drama Studies and Creative Writing. When I first moved to London, I met new people by taking part in musical theatre courses. And then in 2019, I fell in love with improvised comedy. I stepped into the Free Association for my taster session, spent the next 2.5 hours belly laughing with people I’d never met before, and left knowing I HAD to do more of it.

Over the next year I studied every level and performed whenever I could. I learnt more about bravery, failure, creativity and confidence than I had in my performing career that came before. The pandemic put a slight dampener on things, but I’ve been actively performing in the Improv Comedy scene since the summer of 2021. With my all female team “Slumber Party” we’ve performed across the UK as well as having travelled the world, playing at Edinburgh International Improv Festival in both 2022 and 2023, Boom Chicago 2022 festival in Amsterdam, and most recently a three night run at the Prague Fringe Festival in May 2023.

So, what makes me right for your team?

Because as well as having studied drama, musical theatre, comedy, and be actively working on the comedy scene, I’ve also worked in offices and corporate environments for nearly twenty years. In my career I’ve had to learn how to present myself and my ideas, talk to all levels of leadership, and believe that I could get things done.

In my last ten years as a Producer working in creative advertising agencies, I’ve been in charge of ensuring that teams communicate, collaborate, and sell concepts.

I understand corporate life, creative teams, and how to build courses that are engaging and a safe space to be creative, as well as being a LOT of fun.

Find the right course

Team building and confidence through improvisation

A 2.5hr long exercise based session that will teach your team how to listen more effectively, how to fail, and how to trust their instincts.
Best suited to a team who might have a few reservations about improv but who are up for giving it a try.

Introduction to improvisation

A 2.5hr long session split in two; the first half being exercises to warm the team up, and the second being up on their feet doing scene work.
Best suited to a team who are on the more outgoing side, and who are interested in improvisation and what it can do for them as people.

Bespoke courses

If neither of the two sessions on offer right now feel relevant, please get in touch and I’m sure we can put together a session that works for what you want to get out of your team.

FAQs

  • At a minimum, I’d need 6 people to run the sessions as planned. At a maximum, 15 people. But the sweet spot is probably around 12.

  • Each session is 2.5 hours long, including a 15 minute break. However, if you have an idea for a bespoke session and you’d like something longer, lets chat!

  • I can come to your offices, or for an additional fee I can organise a space for your team to come and train in (refreshments can also be catered for but again this is an additional cost). I need a room big enough to comfortably have 15 people standing with space around them. It should be free of tables but with a chair for each attendee including me. And if there is a screen then that would be ideal, but if not I can work around this.

  • I’m afraid not, due to the active nature of the sessions I’m only running these in person, and currently only in the central to greater London area. However, if you’d like to discuss me coming to your business outside of this boundary, lets chat!

  • I charge £500 per session regardless of the number of attendees.
Additional charges would be charged if a space is needed to be hired, or if refreshments need to be provided, but this will be dependant on the number of participants.

  • I currently run sessions Tuesday to Friday in the evenings 5pm onwards, so please do get in touch for my availability. However, if you wish to run a session during working hours please do still get in touch and I’d love to see how I can help.
