I’ve always loved to make and create. I have a vivid memory of being at my Grandparent’s house as a fairly small child and being given the freedom of a cardboard box, a pair of scissors and some craft supplies. I made myself a Barbie house with a working lift, and I also sliced my thumb open on the scissors but we’ll skip over the gory part. I possess endless notebooks from the teen angst years up until now with song lyrics or half written stories in them. I’m currently using an incredibly rubbish trinket tray to keep my jewellery on after a failed attempt to teach myself pottery over lock down. I have two guitars and a ukulele that I sporadically pick up and teach myself a song on. My appetite to learn and do is an insatiable one.

I also love to have new adventures, either learning new skills or taking myself off around the world with old friends (or making new ones). I have travelled Asia with strangers, eat frogs legs in Paris, cycled around Amsterdam, spent months wandering aimlessly around North America, even ended up as a voice actor in an audiobook. Please don’t take this as me bragging - I’m very aware I’m incredibly lucky to have had such a fantastic life filled with wonderful people and amazing opportunities. I say it because when I meet new people and we get chatting, most of them want to know more.

I also watched a video by Ali Abdaal recently about why writing online made him a millionaire. Of course when you love writing and you also really like money that title is going to reel you in. But the main takeaway from the video was less about making money, and more about having the confidence to show your work with others online. And more than that, to do it consistently in order to bring wider connections with people. I’ve attempted to blog and vlog in the past but consistency has always been my downfall, yet with the pandemic and social isolation of 2020 hanging over my head the idea of connecting with more people was irresistible.

And so the thought behind Sarah Does Things was born. I enjoy making things and love writing, so this site is my ambition to share more of what I love with you all. Under the umbrella of Sarah Does Things is the hope that I can do any “Thing” and share it with you all - days out, baking, music, editorial writing, creative writing, reviews, wellness, the potential is endless. I’ll also be creating things over on my YouTube and Instagram channels of the same name, so do go and follow me over there if you haven’t already for more content.

I’ve really excited to start sharing all the fun with you all!

Big love, Sarah x
